Term 2 Week 1 News

Welcome back to Term2! I hope you and your families enjoyed the break. The children have settled quickly back into routines and are keen for new learning this term.

Jolly Grammar – We have looked at words with the ___ll sound and also how to plural words by adding an s. Wow we have Milla, William, Elliot and Mrs Ellidge in room 13.

Reading – We are looking at comprehension. Our buddies enjoy asking us a couple of questions about our books at the end of our buddy reading sessions on Wednesday.

Spelling – We were tested on the sight words we had to practise over the holidays. It looked like many children worked hard to learn their words.

Maths- We are spending two weeks on Rainbow Facts. That is understanding the different ways to make ten.  It is important to know these facts automatically. There are some great songs and clips on you-tube.

Geography – The year 1 team will be working with our librarian, Simone, this term in the area of Geography.

Nature Play will happen for two weeks later this term also. Details to follow….

No sharing next week. Most children spoke confidently this week about their holiday experiences.

Assembly in week 4 will be hosted by room 13. Friday 26th May at 11:15 mark it in your diary. More info closer to the time.

A BIG thanks to TF’S mum and JL’s mum for washing our towels, cushions and covers over the holidays. Also to LC’s mum for sharpening all of our pencils ready for a workout this term!

Looks like we will have another busy, exciting and rewarding term ahead of us.
