Term 2 Week 3 News

Jolly Grammar – This week we looked at words with the ..ck sound at the end of them, if they contain a short vowel sound. We also looked at initial blends in words eg bl, st, gr.

Maths – We have been looking at efficient ways of counting. Encourage your child to skip count collections of things at home by 10s, 5s and 2s. We had fun popping corn and counting it in the quickest way.

Narrative writing – This week we had our first go at making up our own story, using our imaginations. Over the next week we are entering a book making competition using our narrative writing and collage skills.

Sharing – We learned lots about the amazing mums in room13.

Next week is going to be very busy and out of routine!!

  • Nature Play every morning 8:50-9:30. Boots and raincoats weather appropriate.
  • Assembly rehearsals and Assembly 11:15 Friday
  • No sight word testing, hearing reading or Jolly Grammar.
  • Creating our books to enter the competition.
  • Inquiry sessions with other year 1 classes.
